Lower Hardres rides

Riders following one of the Lower Hardres ridesDiscover the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (link opens in a new window) on horseback.

Permissive off-road riding routes link to public bridleways making for stunning circular rides near the historical cathedral city of Canterbury.

The woodland and open parkland are home to both a variety of birds and insects as well as some beautiful scenery.

You will commonly see foxes, rabbits and squirrels around the area as well as a number of birds. Swallows nest each year and kestrels regularly hover in search of a meal.

This is a great way to explore the fantastic countryside around Lower Hardres, named after the Hardres family, who owned the land around this area for 600 years after the Norman Conquest of 1066.
