Hireshop.
Canterbury Environmental Education
Centre provides fascinating and fun days out for families and
schools.
Previously run solely for school groups, the site is now open to
the public on Sundays and school holidays (from April to October),
so that everyone can enjoy the wildlife oasis in this historic city
centre. The entry fee is £2 per person, under 5's and members go
free.
Follow the nature trails to discover a wide range of habitats
including woodland, lakes and reedbeds. These provide homes for
dormice, great crested newts, kingfishers and swans.
You can take part in the pond dipping, using kits available at
the centre, or just enjoy a quiet walk and cup of tea.
The centre runs many days for Kent school groups throughout the
year. There is provision for two classes a day to visit the centre,
for carefully tailored programmes in a safe environment.
All study in science, geography and art is linked to the
National Curriculum and delivered by site based teaching staff.
The centre also delivers teacher training in conservation, art
and environmental topics.
The centre is expanding in these areas to maintain its status as
a recognised area of environmental training. There are now a wide
range of adult learning courses held at the centre.
The centre now offers a unique meeting room for hire. It is an
excellent venue for a business meeting, a workshop, training, a
club meeting or a good old get together. More information on hiring
a room at Canterbury Environmental Education Centre is available
from the
Countryside venues page.
