The headquarters of the Kent Wildlife Trust, the Tyland Barn Visitors Centre features exhibitions on wildlife and conservation in Kent, while the grounds of the site hosts a demonstration nature park with a pond, meadows, bank and scrub habitats.

Set in a beautifully restored 17th century barn, there’s a lot to see in the visitor centre, with wildlife displays and a host of information on the Trust’s activities and facilities throughout the county.
The gift shop stocks a huge variety of fun educational books and games for kids, plus plenty to interest older naturalists too. There’s also a café selling hot drinks and food.

In the gardens a range of different Kentish habitats have been recreated and educational displays show off a variety of plant and insect life. There’s a pond for exploring aquatic life, and a classroom with plenty of facilities for group and school visits. There’s even a play area for when you need to take a break from learning about the natural world.

Easy access information

This park and open space has well surfaced routes suitable for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs, and has no width restricting features, such as stiles or non RADAR kissing gates.
