Hesketh Park has been the home of Dartford Cricket Club – one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world – since the beginning of the 20th Century, and played host to first-class county matches up to 1990.
Besides the cricket pitch, there are a lot of other facilities that the public – young and old – can enjoy year round at Hesketh Park.
There are two tennis courts, an enclosed hard surface multi-sports area, and a playground for younger children with a small paved bike track.
There’s also a landscaped area with formal flowerbeds overhung with trees, perfect for relaxing in the summertime.
The local businessman Everard Hesketh bought the site at the beginning of the 20th century and made a gift of it to the local area, and the site was opened in 1904. The adjacent sportsground was added a year later, also as a gift from Hesketh.

This park and open space has well surfaced routes suitable for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs, and has no width restricting features, such as stiles or non RADAR kissing gates.
