eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines

You can download free eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines if you are a Kent library member.

You can borrow up to 10 eBooks and eAudiobooks at a time.

An eBook is an electronic version of a printed book.

When an eBook is due back the system returns it automatically. You can borrow it for longer by renewing it.

We use 2 providers for eBooks: OverDrive and Dawsonera.

OverDrive (fiction and non-fiction)

To see what eBooks are available you can browse the OverDrive library without downloading anything or signing in. OverDrive eBooks cannot be read on a Kindle, however they will work on a Kindle Fire.

To borrow fiction eBooks you need your library card number and PIN.

Dawsonera (non-fiction)

You can search our catalogue for Dawsonera eBooks before deciding to borrow.

To borrow Dawsonera eBooks you need your library card number and PIN. Then:

  1. Create a Dawsonera account. You can do this on a library computer or by using Ask a Kent Librarian online chat if you are using your own computer. They will set up an account for you.
  2. Once you have an account, sign in to the Dawsonera site using your Dawsonera username and password from any computer or mobile device with internet access.

An eAudiobook is an electronic version of a book that you can listen to. We use a provider called OverDrive for eAudiobooks.

When an eAudiobook is due back the system returns it automatically. You can borrow it for longer by renewing it.

An eMagazine is an electronic version of a magazine. You can read them online or download and keep them for as long as you want.

We use a provider called RBdigital for eMagazines.

  1. Create a RBdigital account using your Kent library card.
  2. Log in to your account on the Kent RBdigital catalogue.
  3. Browse the available magazines.
  4. Click on the 'Checkout Now' button below the cover.
  5. You can now read the magazine.
