Capability Brown in Kent
1 July - 31 July 2017
A free exhibition in collaboration with the Kent Gardens Trust (KGT), combining the KGT’s travelling display of Brown’s work at Chilham Castle, Ingress, Valence, Leeds Abbey and North Cray Place, together with original selections from Kent History and Library Centre’s historic collections.
We hope to repeat the success of our Hopping down in Kent, an exhibition produced in collaboration with Screen Archive South East in 2016, with a display on the theme of ‘Coast and Sea’, again produced in partnership with SASE, and again with some talks to complement the exhibition, in the late summer or autumn. Further details to be confirmed.

Bawleys, Barbels and Owlers: Life along the Kent coast
5 August - 28 October 2017
An exhibition exploring stories of the Kent coast: from oyster farming to sea-bathing, and shipbuilding to smuggling. Visit to see original Screen Archive South East film and documents from Kent’s local history and archive collections.
Also, look out for an exciting and varied programme of talks and events to complement the exhibition, featuring pirates, bronze age boats, naval defence, sea shanties and more.
