Learning disability grant scheme

The learning disability grant is open to all community and voluntary organisations to help improve services for people with learning disabilities and their carers.

The following learning disability grants are available:

Valuing People Now

A revenue grant to undertake the role of delivering contemporary and innovative approaches for enabling and supporting engagement with people with a learning disability aged 16+ and their family/carers to ensure:

  • the voice of people with a learning disability and their families and carers is part of local decision making in Kent
  • people with a learning disability and their families and carers are empowered to represent themselves and others
  • their voice is used to inform the planning and commissioning of future services including as part of the Transforming Care agenda and in line with Kent County Council Strategic Outcomes.
  • effective and genuine representation at the Kent County Council Partnership Board concerning people with a learning disability and their families and carers.

Transforming Care

A revenue grant to provide an innovative approach to developing co-production forums that specifically engage people with a learning disability and/or autism who display behaviours that challenge, including mental health conditions.

Engagement will need to include, individuals with more severe disabilities, individuals who are not able to attend specific groups or meetings, and those with complex needs. The forums will need to ensure that the voice, experience and opinions of individuals and their carers are represented and used to inform the planning and commissioning of future services as part of the Transforming Care agenda and in line with Kent County Council Strategic Outcomes.

The learning disability grant is open to all community and voluntary organisations.

To apply for a learning disability grant providers must:

  • complete the online application form, which allows you to describe how you will deliver against the grant application specification
  • upload an easy read version of the online application.
