Arrangements for the national programme are being finalised

2 October 2015

Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), the Government's broadband delivery agency, is currently finalising the arrangements for the national programme to ensure that all properties are able to access a standard broadband service of at least 2mbps.

We have been advised that the scheme will go live in December 2015. The details of the scheme are yet to be formally announced, but it has been reported that the scheme will offer satellite-based solutions which are relatively quick to install. Find out more about the reported satellite scheme.

BDUK has been trialling a range of different technologies to deliver fast broadband services to areas which have proved hard-to-reach. There have been a number of recent advances in the capability of satellite broadband services and we understand that the scheme will offer a range of speed options, including those that are significantly above 2mbps.

Further information on the scheme, and how to access it, will be published later this year.
