Our staff groups
Our staff groups also allow us to engage and consult directly
with both our employees and customers.
They all work to broaden our knowledge around equality and
diversity, including giving advice and feedback to the organisation
on employment policy and services to ensure we continue to respond
to the needs of our diverse customers.
We currently have 4 staff groups:
Aspire (formerly Greenhouse)
We are a formally recognised staff group representing the
interests of younger employees. The group is open to all younger
employees aged 30 and under and we welcome any member of staff who
can actively contribute to the aims of our group.
We aim to promote the value that younger colleagues bring to the
workplace as well as providing them with the tools and skills to
progress and develop within the Council. We plan to do this by
providing training opportunities, professional development and
networking events.
By offering these opportunities and experiences, we believe we can
help support and develop younger people to realise their potential.
We are also keen to raise the profile and importance of staff
groups to all employees and managers.

Level Playing Field
Level Playing Field (LPF) is made up of disabled staff and
friends and is open to all KCC employees who consider themselves to
be disabled or who have an interest in disability issues.
The provision of equal access to employment within KCC and the
support of new staff are key priorities for LPF, together with the
retention of existing staff through better understanding of
reasonable adjustments.
Rainbow
Rainbow supports members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgender (LGBT) staff community, as well informing and assisting
others who have a personal or professional interest in issues of
sexuality, including other public sector organisations in Kent.
The group gives advice on the services that KCC provides to
ensure that all aspects of the organisation’s work are accessible
and appropriate to all Kent residents, regardless of sexual
orientation.
UNITE

UNITE welcomes and supports Black and Minority Ethnic (BME)
staff in all directorates and provides an invaluable reference
point for KCC on issues relating to ethnicity and colour.
As Kent is becoming increasingly culturally diverse it is vital
the Authority understands how it can develop and extend its
services to respond to that diversity.
Unite offers a support network to its members and assists, along
with the other staff groups, in the development of service delivery
and employment policy.
