We have a number of diversity staff groups that provide
support and development opportunities to members of our diverse
workforce. They give advice on policy and practice to support our
commitment to promoting equality, valuing diversity and combating
unfair treatment.
They also:
- look at employment and service delivery issues affecting group
members and service users
- invite guest speakers to update members on topical issues
- enable staff to share experiences and explore positive ways
forward
- identify and undertake training on specific needs
- are a consultation resource for policies and working
practices
- recommend improvements in employment opportunities and service
delivery
UNITE
The main purpose of UNITE is to support all black and minority
ethnic workers employed by KCC to enable them to carry out their
duties without any form of discrimination and harassment.
Level Playing Field
Level Playing Field is an independent group of disabled staff
and friends recognised and supported by KCC. The group is open to
all KCC employees who consider themselves to be disabled or who
have an interest in disability issues.
Rainbow Forum
Rainbow Forum is KCC's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
(LGBT) staff group, welcoming members of the LGBT community, as
well as others who have a personal or professional interest in
issues of sexuality - members or guests do not need to declare
their sexuality.
Greenhouse
Greenhouse is open to all KCC employees under 30 as well as to
any staff who can actively contribute to the group's aims. The
group promotes the value that younger staff members bring to the
workplace. |
