Teenage Pregnancy Sub Groups
The group is a subgroup to the Local Children’s Trust Board
(LCTB), the overarching aim of which is to improve outcomes for all
children and young people. The group may serve one or two
LCTB. The meetings will be held quarterly.
Aim of Subgroups
The local teenage pregnancy sub groups have a key responsibility
to coordinate local implementation of the Kent teenage pregnancy
strategy. The local knowledge held by the respective members of the
groups allows them to take account of geographical and
socio-economic difference in the local needs of the district.
Tasks
The members of the group will:
- Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of a
local teenage pregnancy plan and ensure this reflects the county
strategy. (ideally just 3-6- priorities)
- Take account of variations in rates of teenage pregnancy,
provision of services, local circumstances and the needs identified
by local partners when targeting action.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the local plan to
inform on-going planning and ensure effective use of local funds,
including developing processes for data collection if
appropriate
- Ensure that the process of implementation is linked to the
relevant strategic planning processes including the Local
Children’s Trust Boards, Children and Young Peoples Plan, Local
Strategic Partnerships, Children’s Centres, and other local
infrastructure.
- Provide a quarterly progress report to the LCTB on strategy
implementation and rate changes.
- Ensure that the best use is made of existing core services by
promoting them to partners and service users.
- Further interrogate the local datasets provided by the Public
Health Observatory with the addition of local ‘soft’ data where
available.
- Actively promote joint working and act as champions of the Kent
Teenage Pregnancy Strategy to communicate and promote the issues
surrounding teenage pregnancy and the Strategy.
