Kent Sweeps the board at the London Independent Film Festival
Kent film makers celebrated a night of Kentish success picking up awards for Best UK Feature Film, Best No-Budget Feature Film and Best Short.

Kent obviously has what it takes, since resident film makers celebrated a night of success picking up three of the nine international awards at The London Independent Film Festival.
The top prize of Best UK Feature film went to Ramsgate's very own Medb Films for their bittersweet film Ruby Blue, staring Bob Hoskins. Written and directed by Jan Dunn, Ruby Blue has also recently picked up the Grand Jury Prize at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival.
Medb Films also picked up a second award for Elaine Wickham’s directorial debut My Mother. Again, the film's second Prize after winning Best Director at the European Short Film Festival last year.

Another big winner on the night was Simon Welsford with his film Jetsam, filmed entirely on the east coast of Kent. The dark thriller staring Jamie Draven (Billy Elliot) and Alex Reid (Life on Mars) picked up the accolade of Best No Budget Feature Film.
Congratulations to all the winners! It must be something in the Kentish air....

Jetsam
Westgate-on-Sea on the 10th May at 20.00 hrs as part of the Margate Rocks festival, the film will also have a Q&A session with the director Simon Welsford and an Introduction from Jo Nolan at Screen South.
