A traditional market town, Maidstone has always been historically important in Kent. The town is home to the Royal Engineers at the Invicta Army Barracks and the 14th Century Archbishops Palace which is situated by the River Medway.

Whilst the market still has a presence near the Lockmeadow complex, today the city centre is known for its vibrant nightlife as well as a shopping haven. With the newly completed Fremlins Walk, the town has everything even the most ardent shopper demands.

Away from the hustle and bustle, Maidstone’s largest recreation ground, Moat Park, has over 450 acres of parkland, including a 30-acre lake, a miniature railway and a mini pitch and putt course. Recently, the park played Host to Radio One’s One Big Weekend with guest artist Madonna playing to a crowd of over 30,000.

Maidstone is conveniently located in the Weald of Kent, which means that you are never more than a few minutes drive from beautiful, unspoilt countryside.

The town is also home to the Maidstone Studios, which has a long and rich history of television production. The newly built Studio Five can accommodate the largest studio audience country and hosts productions such as The Trisha Goddard Show, Basil Brush’s Swap Shop and Supermarket Sweep. The studios are also home to Bob Mortimer’s and Vic Reeves’ production company Pett Productions.
