Lympne Castle
An atmospheric 13th Century Castle overlooking the Romney Marshes.
A Grade One listed medieval fortress built in the 13th Century; Lympne Castle offers glorious views over the Romney Marshes. The fort has lots of character from its wood panelled rooms and exposed timber which give the castle a romantic and luxurious atmosphere to the stone gateway and giant wooden gates giving the grounds an enchanting, gothic and magical ambience.
Lympne also played an important part in history from providing a home for the Archdeacon of Canterbury to being an observation post in the Second World War. Its vantage point over the Marshes made it the perfect look out post, warding off potential invasions from England’s enemies over the years. During times of peace, this fortress is more familiar with providing a refuge for productions from fashion shoots to film.
The location was most recently used for a romantic fashion shoot, giving the castle a fairytale gothic feel as seen in these pictures by Luke Foreman.
Only minutes from the M20, Lympne Castle is a perfect location for your production needs. Lympne also close to many other attractions such as Port Lympne Animal park, home to the children’s programme ROAR, and Folkestone’s creative quarter.
