Kent's Wildlife

Kent is the home to several rare species that largely stem from our county's varied geology and land use history. They are now nationally rare or declining rapidly.

For information on what we are doing to protect local animal and plants species have a look at our wildlife pages.

Coast

Kent has one of the longest and most varied coastlines in England.

Have a look at this film about Kent's Coast.

It is home to many internationally important coastal habitats. It also has the busiest passenger ferry port in northern Europe and the largest installed offshore wind farm in the UK.

Get involved!

Councils, organisations and charities can't do everything to protect and enhance Kent's wildlife and habitats. Volunteers play a huge role in getting the job done.

There are lots of things you can do, so why not spare some time and get involved?
