Dartford permit scheme
Kent residents who live in the Dartford administrative area
(those who pay their council tax to Dartford Borough Council),
should display a permit in their vehicles for easy use of the
Dartford Household Waste Recycling
Centre at Rochester Way.
Should you require a permit, please contact Kent County Council
on 0845 345 0210 or kentwaste@kent.gov.uk.
Note: One permit per household only.
About the permit scheme
The Dartford Heath Household Waste Recycling Centre at Rochester
Way is provided for use by residents who live in the Kent County
Council area; that is those who pay their council tax to a Kent
District or Borough Council, such as Dartford Borough Council.
Use of the site by those who live outside Kent (such as Bexley)
became excessive and the cost of dealing with their waste was being
borne by the council tax payers of Kent.
Therefore on 1 October 1998, Kent County Council introduced a
scheme to limit "free use" of the site to Kent residents only.
A charge will be made for the use of the facility by those who
live outside Kent.
Dartford residents
If you are a Dartford resident, you are able to use the Dartford
Heath site free of charge to dispose of your household
waste. When you visit the site, you will need to display on
your vehicle a special permit. You should not allow other people to
use this permit.
If you live anywhere else in Kent and wish to use the Dartford
site, you will not be issued a permit but may use the site free of
charge by showing some proof of address e.g utility bill etc.
Otherwise, you will have to 'pay and display'. To gain entry,
you will need to purchase a ticket from the machine at the site
entrance.
The charge is £5 per visit, with effect from 1 April 2009.
However, as a Kent resident you can claim reimbursement. Details
are on the reverse of the ticket.
Non-Kent residents
If you are not a Kent resident and wish to use the Dartford
Heath site, you will be required to 'pay and display'. To gain
entry you will need to purchase a ticket from the machine at the
site entrance at the time of each visit.
The charge is £5 per visit, with effect from 1 April 2009.
Bexley Council operate a similar system at their Household Waste
Sites at Foots Cray and Thames Road. Free use of these sites are
exclusive to Bexley residents.
Kent and Bexley permits are not transferable and are not valid
at sites outside the issuing authorities' areas.
For further information, contact Kent County Council on 0845 345
0210 or Bexley Council on 020 8303 7777 Extension 3589.
