Household waste

We are responsible for arranging the disposal of household waste collected by the 12 local councils and for providing outlets for householders to dispose of their household waste.

The 12 district/borough councils in Kent are responsible for collecting household waste. To find out about rubbish and recycling collections in your area contact your district/borough council.

We are responsible for 19 Household waste recycling centres where householders can recycle a wide range of items or dispose of their household rubbish.

We also have a duty to dispose of vehicles identified as abandoned by local councils. If you own a vehicle you want to dispose of, Kent County Council can do this for you free of charge. Find out about our vehicle surrender scheme.

Medway Council performs both the collection and disposal roles in Medway. For details about their collections and 3 recycling centres please contact Medway Council.
