Gypsy and Traveller accommodation provisions
All Regional Spatial Strategies were revoked in July 2010.
The Regional Strategy for Kent was the
South East Plan (adopted May 2009). Guidance issued
from the Secretary of State for Communities and Local
Government states that local councils are best placed to
assess the needs of travellers. For further details see the
revocation of Regional Strategies letter (PDF,
94k) sent to all local authorities.
Advice was provided by local authorities to the former Regional
Assembly, including Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessments
undertaken for the partial review of the South East
Plan. All advice can still be used as a part
of district and borough
councils' Local Development
Framework evidence bases. The reports include advice on the
number of pitches for the 10 year period between 2006 to 2016, and
the options for their distribution across districts.

Traveller accommodation provision.
