About us: The Planning Applications Group
We aim to
find the balance between facilitating new development to meet the
needs of today's community, whilst protecting and enhancing the
environment for future generations.
The Planning Applications Group is responsible for the statutory
development control service on behalf of the county council.
The group carries out the formal processing of planning
applications as well as pre-application advice, enforcement and
monitoring and appeals arising from this work.
We deal with three types of development:
- The quarrying of various minerals (such as sand, clay, chalk)
found within Kent.
- Waste management facilities, including landfill sites,
household waste recycling centres, waste transfer facilities,
composting facilities and waste water treatment facilities.
- The council's own community developments, such as new school
facilities, children's centres, care homes and strategic highway
schemes.
All other types of application, such as commercial, industrial
or household building works, are processed by the Kent district and
borough councils.
