Monitoring and enforcement
The planning
department in Kent County Council performs diverse functions
as part of its duty to monitor and enforce planning
regulations.
The planning department's responsibilities include:
- ensuring that quarries and waste sites operate to the highest
environmental standards
- working with mineral and waste operators to foster good working
practices and the highest environmental standards
- liaising with local communities, district, parish and
neighbouring councils on enforcement related matters
- monitoring planning permissions which have been granted to
ensure compliance with the various conditions
- carrying out appropriate formal action against unauthorised
waste or mineral developments
- liaising with the Environment Agency in relation to waste
management licensing issues and joint enforcement actions
- follow the planning enforcement protocol, which includes
internal protocols in order to remedy any breaches of regulations
in county council developments.
