Minerals and Waste PlanAllington incinerator

We are preparing a set of new Minerals and Waste Local Plans to replace the old style, existing Local Plans for the county council's administrative area.

The key document of the framework is the Minerals and Waste Plan (previously known as the 'Core Strategy' document). Two Mineral and Waste Sites Plans will be produced separately.

The Minerals and Waste Plan will:

  • set out the vision and strategy for mineral provision and waste management in Kent
  • contain a number of development management policies for evaluating minerals and waste planning applications
  • consider strategic site provision for all minerals and waste management facilities, and
  • plan to the year 2030.

Key events

The development of the Plan will include community involvement events where you have the opportunity to give us your views and help form the final document.

The Minerals and Waste Plan will go through the following draft stages of development:

1. Issues consultation (24 September to 19 November 2010).

2. Strategy and Policy Directions options consultation (31 May to 09 August 2011).

The schedule for the following stages is now under review; new dates will be published in due course. The project programme in the 2012 Development Scheme is likely to be delayed by around six months.

3. Publication of the Draft Minerals and Waste Plan - 'Pre-submission' consultation document - Summer 2013

Further dates:

Submission:Autumn 2013

Pre-hearing meeting: Winter 2013

Examination meeting: Spring 2014

Receipt of Inspectors Report: Summer 2014

Estimated date of Adoption: Autumn 2014

The stages for the development of all minerals and waste plans are set out in our revised Development Scheme (December 2012).
