Options consultation

Minerals sites - Options consultation

Public consultation (31 May to 09 August 2011Minerals sites)

The Options consultation was the first stage (of a three stage consultation process) in the production of the Minerals Sites  Plan. In 2010 we asked landowners to propose sites that could be developed and used for mineral resources or waste management facilities in the future (see the Call for Sites).

The consultation document contained all the mineral site proposals submitted to the County Council. We sought initial views and opinions on the sites to help us decide which sites should go into the final document and which should not.

Comments

We have produced a summary report on the consultation comments. The report has since been revised (September 2012) with some minor changes to address the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Unit's concerns that their comments had not been properly reflected: view the Mineral Sites Plan - Options consultation commentary report (PDF, 597k).

You can still read the all the full submissions made on the document by either browsing through the online document, selecting a site from the list of sites, or by going to view all consultation comments. To find out how we use consultation comments read our terms and conditions for consultees (PDF, 15k).

During this consultation period we also invited views on the Minerals and Waste Core Strategy - Strategy and Policy Directions consultation and the Waste Site Options consultation.

Additional site options were later submitted by industry in summer 2011. These sites were published for consultation in the Minerals and Waste Supplementary Options document.

The next stage in the development of the Mineral Sites Plan was the Preferred Options consultation.
