Existing Kent minerals and waste plans

Due to the transitional arrangements of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, not all of the policies contained in the original Local Plans are still in force.

The county council was required to apply to government to save the 'old style' Local Plan policies beyond the initial 3 year transitional period (beyond 27 September 2007).

Saved policies from existing Minerals and Waste Local Plans

The saved Local Plan policy schedules still in force and the related Directions from the Secretary of State are available from the links below:

• Kent Minerals Local Plan: Construction aggregates saved policies
• Kent Minerals Local Plan: Chalk and clay saved policies
• Kent Minerals Local Plan: Oil and gas saved policies
• Kent Minerals Subject Plan: Brickearth saved policies
• Kent Waste Local Plan saved policies.

Once adopted, the Mineral and Waste Development Framework documents will progressively replace policies saved from the existing Kent Minerals and Waste Local Plans.

While the Minerals and Waste Local Plans referred to Kent and Medway, the schedules of saved policies apply only to the Kent County Council area.

The Kent Minerals and Waste Local Plans

All Local Plans should be read in the context of the Secretary of State's Directions and accompanying letters on saved policies. The original Kent Minerals and Waste Local Plans:
