Ways to save money

Many people have already taken advantage of great offers to save money on unnecessarily high energy bills, by simply insulating their homes better.

Home insulation

Insulating your home is the most cost effective way to reduce heat loss, lower energy bills and make your home feel warmer. Cavity wall insulation can be installed within half a day and loft insulation can be installed in just a couple of hours. And the good news is that this is the perfect time to take advantage of great discounted deals and grants, thanks to a Government backed scheme, which ends in autumn 2012.

With these discounts, loft and cavity wall insulation can be professionally installed for around £150 each, or for free if you are on certain benefits. And with the savings on your energy bills, the insulation will pay for itself within 1-2 years.

Many energy companies offer their customers free loft and cavity wall insulation. Some energy companies will even install it in your home if you are not their customer. Contact your electricity or gas supplier to find out more.

Discounts are also available on DIY insulation, with a roll of loft insulation from many high street retailers costing just a few pounds.
