Event descriptions
Save Money with Energy workshop
A free
Department of Energy and Climate Change funded course for small
and medium enterprises delivered by SusCon.
By attending this course you will be able to assess the potential
for energy savings in your business and indicate key areas for
improvement by:
- reducing energy consumption
- considering energy-efficient measures
- raising awareness of energy conservation amongst staff and
motivating them to reduce waste
- appraising the overall energy performance of your business
premises and producing a strategy for energy management.
Offshore wind supply chain workshop
There will be two events held as part of a project undertaken
by us and the University of Chichester to stimulate and
support sustainable business relations between the wind energy
sector and Kent-based businesses.
Every participant will also have the opportunity to evaluate
their listing in a comprehensive database of wind farm supply
companies. This will ensure they are accurately accounted for. This
database will inform the us and wind farm operators of where
suppliers can be found and the activities they are able to supply
to.
The event will start with a
workshop where you will be given the opportunity to discuss
perceived barriers and issues of working for wind energy operators.
The outcomes of the workshop will be analysed and shared with
operators.
There will also be a presentation by Dr Michel Leseure about the
impact of policy and the contractual character of the industry on
supply chain/purchasing management practices.
Meet The Buyer
Energy companies with over 250,000 customers are now obligated
to help reduce their customers’ carbon footprints by installing
energy efficiency measures. These improvements must be focused on
homes that are hard to treat, homes with vulnerable residents, or
homes with residents on low incomes. This is the Energy Company
Obligation (ECO).
On behalf of the Kent and Medway Green Deal Partnership (KMGDP),
we would like to assess the capabilities of small and
medium enterprises (SMEs) in the region to deliver ECO in
partnership with our provider Enterprise. From this assessment, we
will be able to ascertain those businesses that can help deliver
ECO now and those businesses that will be able to help delivery of
ECO in the future. We will collate this data and send to Enterprise
for their review. We will work
with Enterprise to support local businesses, as far
as reasonably possible, to deliver ECO in Kent and Medway.
STEM drop-in surgery
Arrange an appointment with a Sustainable Business Advisor where
you can go through the Steps to Environmental Management (STEM)
scheme or discuss any of your environmental management
requirements. The surgery takes place at County Hall, Maidstone.
You must contact us to arrange a suitable time.
Workshops
Interactive workshops provide organisations with the opportunity
to meet with like-minded businesses, learn how to be more
environmentally friendly and reduce their costs. We run
different STEM workshops which you
can attend to receive support in completing the appropriate level
of the scheme.
We also arrange occasional workshops on specific topics
such as business resilience.
Members of the Low Carbon Kent network can access all of
the above events for free. For more information on the events or to
book onto an event, please contact 0300 333 5011 or email
lowcarbon@kent.gov.uk.
You must book onto an event before attending.
The Low Carbon Kent business network is funded by Interreg IVA 2
Seas Programme (part-financed by the European Regional Development
Fund).
