Climate change

Sunset over QE2 BridgeOur climate is changing. Locally we are already beginning to see this, with longer growing seasons and earlier emergence of organisms such as butterflies and frogspawn.

We are also experiencing more extreme weather events, like heatwaves and heavy downpours.

We need to avoid making the problem worse, so reducing our consumption of energy and natural resources is a priority, but we also need to be prepared for the changes that will happen.

We must all take action to adapt to climate change and reduce our impact on the environment.

In the climate change pages you will be able to learn more about the causes and effects of climate change, how both the council and wider Kent communities are tackling the issue and what you can do to help make a difference.

Guidance pack

We have also produced a guidance pack on climate change for Kent’s decision makers. The guide provides an overview of the key facts, figures and information currently available on climate change, to ensure that the decisions we make in Kent are as sustainable as possible.  To find out more, please visit our Decision Maker's Guide page or you can download Climate Change: A guide for Kent’s decision makers (PDF, 2.4mb).
