Environment and climate change

We work with Kent County Council's services and staff to reduce our carbon footprint. We lead on projects that will result in reductions in waste, water and energy use. We also work with businesses so that they too can take action to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Climate Change

Our climate is already changing and it will increasingly affect the way we live and work in Kent. To avoid making the problem worse we need to reduce our energy consumption and cut carbon emissions. We must also make our homes, communities and day-to-day lives more resilient to flood, drought and heat. To find out more, visit our climate change pages.

What we are doing

Kent County Council is working hard to deliver the targets in our Environment Policy. We encourage all of our staff to get involved by helping us reduce energy use, water and waste. Also by increasing recycling and finding alternative ways to travel, rather than by car. Visit our initiatives page.

Save money and energy

There are many grants and discounts available for products that will save you money and energy in the home. To find out what funding you are entitled to phone the Energy Saving Trust for free on 0800 512 012 or visit the Energy Saving Trust website.

Alternatively, why not complete a home energy check? You’ll receive a personalised report showing you how much money and energy you can save in your home. When you’re prompted, please note that you were redirected by Kent Home Energy.

Sustainable businesses

We work with Kent businesses by:

  • providing an environmental review service with site visits and one to one support
  • promoting sustainable best practice
