Grant funding for landowners
Finding financing to improve areas for wildlife or
to manage land effectively for biodiversity can be one of the major
barriers to landowners and managers taking action for
wildlife. The wide variety of funders
and sponsors that Countryside Management Partnerships (CMPs)
have relationships with put them in an ideal position to
help.
From long-term stewardship agreements to
one-off payments for specific items, CMPs can help landowners to
identify and apply for appropriate funding streams. Whatever
the requirements, there is usually a funding source to fit the
bill.
Some CMPs administer their own grant schemes
that can be applied for directly but all will be able to help
identify alternative funding streams including:
- lottery funding
- landfill tax credits
- local grant sources
To find out more about help with grant funding
in your area contact your local Countryside Management
Partnership.
There are also two sources of funding
administered by Natural England and the Forestry Commission
specifically to support the long-term sustainable management of
land. These are Environmental Stewardship and the English
Woodland Grant Scheme and they offer grants for specific projects
such as planting and managing hedgerows or funding ride
enhancements in woodland. To find out more about these grants

CMPs also offer help to access funding for
community based projects and work with schools:
