Recreation and access
Being out and about in the countryside
can have benefits for both people’s physical health and mental well
being. Providing appropriate access to the countryside,
whether somebody comes from a deprived urban area or is a regular
walker in the countryside, is an important part of countryside
management. Countryside Management Partnerships (CMPs) work
in partnership with
Public Rights of Way and
Explore Kent to maintain public footpaths and bridleways and
encourage access to the countryside.
With knowledge of the local area and links
with communities and community groups, CMPs are able to
provide:
- guided walks
- access furniture that encourages use by
disabled people
- healthy living programmes
- guided walk leaflets
- on-site interpretation and walks
- controlling illegal access
