Kent Farmstead guidance consultation

This consultation is now closed.

We will update this page at the end of August when the documents have been amended and the final versions are released.

The Kent Farmstead Guidance offers new assistance to help keep Kent’s fine legacy of Historic Farmsteads in active use.

Two linked documents are provided:

  • The main consultation draft Kent Farmstead Guidance provides help in assessing the historic value of farmsteads, and shows  how best to conserve, enhance and develop them, without destroying their value, thus ensuring their long term economic use.
  • The Kent Downs AONB Farmstead Guidance provides easy access to the generic information in the main Kent consultation draft from specific Kent Landscape Character Areas within the Kent Downs, and gives specific advice on rarity and significance in that locality.

Due to the large size of the draft documents, links to copies of the draft document for Historic Farmsteads Guidance are provided on this page on the Kent Downs website.

This informal consultation is seeking the views of key stakeholders on the two draft guidance documents. We would be pleased to receive your opinions on content, accuracy, general usefulness and any areas not covered, including your answers to the five questions in the questionnaire provided.

The stakeholder consultation period will run for eight weeks from the 29 March 2011 to 24 May 2011. Download the consultation questionnaire:

We look forward to hearing from you within this period. Following the consultation, the documents will be amended, and final versions released by the end of August 2011.
