Education and learning
The countryside and green spaces are the
ultimate outdoor classroom. The work of Countryside
Management Partnerships (CMPs) naturally involves working with
people and providing informal and formal learning
opportunities. Whether these are practical skills picked up
during the course of volunteering or activities organised
specifically for groups of schoolchildren, CMPs are able to offer a
wide range of educational programmes.
Schools are often fortunate enough to have an area
within the school grounds that can be devoted to wildlife and
create outdoor learning opportunities for students without having
to leave the school. CMPs are able to help schools by project
managing the development of wildlife areas, access funding and
designing appropriate activities for children to become
involved.
CMPs may also able to offer student placements
and volunteering opportunities for those who wish to learn more
about the way that conservation organisations are run, perhaps with
a view to becoming a paid member of staff in the future.
