Guidance and standards

The Countryside Access Service offers guidance and support on many areas of work. If you have any further questions, please contact us by emailing prow@kent.gov.uk.

Guidance for farmers and landowners

We have produced a series of standards to assist landowners and organisations maintain the network and install furniture (for example, gates, bridges, waymarkers etc.).

Our aim is to work together to raise the quality of access furniture across the county.

Protecting public rights of way during planning and development

Public rights of way are an important consideration in any development as they can provide an opportunity to improve access and forge better links between communities.

We welcome planners and developers to contact us if they would like any advice about the protection of public rights of way during a development.

Making changes to the network

You can make changes to the public rights of way network and you can also view the registers of applications to change the network.
