Teabags
Teabags can be composted in your compost heap. It is best to
tear them open so they compost quicker.
Telephone directories
These can usually be put into the paper banks at recycling sites
unless the bank states otherwise. Alternatively they will be
recycled if placed in the paper bank at any
HWRC. Also see Yellow Pages.
Textiles
Textiles such as curtains, clothes, sheets and wool can be taken
to charity shops or placed into textile banks at
HWRC's or recycling sites (please put them in bags and tie them
up). Also see

Toner cartridges
Many toner cartridges and ink jet cartridges can be recycled to
raise money for charity. Contact SCOPE on 0845 4588822 for details.
We also accept inkjet and laser cartridges at all
HWRC's.
Tools
If they cannot be re-used, tools can be taken to a
HWRC. Ask the site staff where to put them, they may be able to
be recycled.
Tyres
Up to 5 tyres per person can be taken to the
HWRC's for recycling (on or off the rim).

Washing machines
Contact your
local council for details of a bulky collection (a charge may
be made for this service), or deliver to your local
HWRC for recycling.
Waste
General waste can be taken to
HWRC's. Please remember to use the recycling facilities if
possible.

Your
local council is responsible for providing collections of
domestic waste from houses. Please also contact them if you have a
query concerning black sacks, wheelie bins, recycling collections
or bulky waste collections.

Wheelie bins are provided by your
local council.

White goods
Many white goods such as washing machines etc can be recycled at
the
HWRC's for their metal content. Alternatively contact your
local council for details of a bulky collection (a charge may
be made for this service).
Window glass
You can take window glass to your local
HWRC for disposal. Please do NOT put window glass in bottle
banks.
Wood
Can be taken to your local
HWRC, some HWRC's have recycling facilities for this
material.
Worms and wormeries
Wormeries are very useful instead of, or as well as, a compost
bin. Contact:

Yellow Pages
These can be placed in the cardboard bank at any
HWRC for recycling. Some recycling site cardboard banks may
accept yellow pages but be aware that many do not. Check the
details on the side of the recycling bank first. Also see

Zips
These can be re-used by donating them to charity shops and
second hand shops. |
