Household Waste Recycling Centres

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) are recycling centres managed by Kent County Council that accept a wide variety of materials for reuse, recycling or safe disposal. Items need to be separated and deposited in the appropriate container.

Please Note:

The policies at the Household Waste Recycling Centres are changing from 20th July 2009:

New Rules and guidance

  • The height barrier is now set at 2.0 metres (6ft6").
  • Customers will no longer be allowed to park their vehicles outside any of the sites and carry their waste into the site from their vehicle. Therefore wheelbarrows will no longer be available for people to barrow in waste from outside.
  • If you're vehicle is taller than 2.0 metres or you are likely to hire a vehicle taller than 2.0 metres, then access is available at certain sites on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Pick-up trucks or open backed vehicles are allowed on site provided they are carrying household waste.
  • Twin Axle Trailers (two sets of wheels) will no longer be allowed at smaller sites.
  • The HWRC is only for domestic waste, trade waste is not accepted. It is an offence to take business waste into the HWRC's as they are only licensed for household waste.
  • Please ask a member of staff if you need assistance.
  • Children must remain in the vehicle whilst on site for health and safety.
  • A permit will be required for residents wishing to use the Dartford site.

Please drive carefully and be considerate to other HWRC users.
