It also reduces the use of limited landfill space and in so doing reduces the production of greenhouse gases and leachate from these landfills.

Your obligations

Re-use and recycling of waste can offset obligations under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 1997 (link opens in a new window).

The regulations place a duty on certain businesses to obtain evidence for the recovery of packaging waste.

Packaging which has been re-used is only counted on its first use.
