Measuring our performance

The planning function is not carried out in isolation from other county council business and is measured against other departments and councils.

The annual plan

The service that is delivered by the department should be in line with modern business practice.

For the department to provide this level of service it must have clear goals - these are set out in the Kent County Council annual plan.

The annual plan includes key indicators and targets for measuring the performance of all county council services including the planning service.

For more information please download the Kent County Council annual plan.

Performance indicators

The government has set best value performance indicators for which all counties must report performance and set targets.

The county planning function will be judged on the following:

  • The percentage of planning applications determined within 13 weeks.
  • The percentage of planning applicants satisfied with the service received.
  • Planning cost per head of population.

The targets set for these indicators and figures for our current performance can be found in the county council's annual plan.
