Martin Luther King once said, "Before you finish eating
this morning, you've depended on more than half the
world".
The way you spend and the way you live your life can affect
people's lives and welfare in the developing world.
Choosing to buy Fairtrade goods offers a real practical option
to redress current inequalities in the free market system.
Consumers pay a guaranteed price to help producers survive in a
global trading system where the odds are stacked against them. It
improves working conditions and helps to give the seller long-term
financial security.
The Fairtrade Foundation labels products with its 'Fairtrade'
mark. It appears on many different products including bananas,
chocolate, coffee, footballs and clothing.
When you go shopping remember to take a re-usable bag and refuse
to use plastic carrier bags.
More and more people want to buy local food, drink and products
and Produced in Kent helps you do this.
