Green Kent
World Environment Day 2008
Our climate is changing. And the choices we
make need to change too. Making the right choices now can slow
climate change down and - just as importantly - we can get
ready for it.
At the Environment Agency's
Stand Up To Climate Change website (link
opens in a new window) you can say how you will get ready for
climate change.
What are we doing?
Kent County Council is committed to protecting and enhancing the
environment. We believe that every one can make a difference.
We are:
- working with the Carbon Trust to improve the energy efficiency
of our council buildings
- encouraging our staff to be more environmentally responsible
through our staff engagement programme
- helping schools to improve their environment through
Eco-Schools in Kent
- creating Low Carbon Communities to reduce Kent residents'
carbon footprints
- aiming to make Kent a cleaner county with the Clean Kent
Campaign
- using WRAP's "Love Food, Hate Waste" campaign to reduce Kent's
food waste.
You can read our
case
studies about how we're making a
difference. |
