About us
|
The Corporate Environmental Performance Group is working
across the council to help every department become more
environmentally responsible. Staff are encouraged to support our
environmental management programme and
Eco-Schools in
Kent is helping schools to make environmental
improvements.
Our main areas of work are:
- Energy - set up energy-saving projects in buildings and educate
staff to reduce their energy use
- Water - use water-saving devices and repair leaks to improve
water efficiency
- Waste - reduce the amount of waste the council creates and
improve recycling opportunities for staff
- Transport - reduce car use and introduce biodiesel for our
fleet vehicles
- Construction - set new standards for building design and
increase the use of renewable energy
- Biodiversity - protect and enhance our natural habitats
- Procurement - help staff understand the environmental impact of
purchasing decisions.
Together with partners in Medway, East Sussex and France, our
Environmental Stewardship projects demonstrate how organisations
can achieve measurable environmental improvements. For more
information read the
case
studies. |
