Kent Free Trees Scheme
The Kent Free Trees Scheme has grown significantly so that 2009
will be the first year the scheme is available in all Boroughs and
Districts across Kent. The scheme offers up to 25 native tree
species to individuals and organisations completely free of charge.
All you have to do is collect them, plant them and care for them as
they grow.
Why are you giving trees away for free?
The scheme which is sponsored by Network Rail helps to make a vital
contribution to Kent's natural environment. By encouraging the
planting of native trees there is a positive effect on the
landscape and biodiversity of Kent's countryside. The planting of
trees also helps to make a positive contribution to the reduction
of carbon emissions.
What are the trees like?
The trees we supply are 2-3 years old (whips), and typically no
more than one metre in height. They are supplied as either
cell-grown or bare-rooted, and 25 trees will easily pack into a bin
bag and neatly fit into the boot of a car. Just take the following
five easy steps to apply for your free trees, and make your own
positive contribution to Kent's natural environment.
Make sure your application reaches us by 30 October 2009 to be
included in the current year's scheme.
Where can I get an application booklet?
The scheme will be launched in July 2009, you will be able to
download the booklet from early July.
