Kent's rich cultural history has left us with a wealth of
fascinating buildings and structures, from the remains of Roman
forts to Cold War bunkers.
These buildings show how Kent's towns, villages and countryside
have developed, and provide modern communities with a sense of the
historical importance of where they live.
The importance of looking after historic buildings, their role
as part of the environment where people live and work, and the
opportunities they offer for education, tourism and leisure, have
been increasingly recognised in recent years.
Through careful conservation and encouragement of sympathetic
regeneration projects we aim to preserve this heritage, while at
the same time providing room for new architectural developments
which will be the heritage of future
