UK Youth Parliament

The UK Youth Parliament is an organisation run by young people
for young people and provides opportunities for 11-18 year-olds to
use their voice in creative ways to bring about social change at
both a local and national level. Kent has 5 Members of the Youth
Parliament (MYP) and 5 Deputy Members of the Youth Parliament
(DMYPs) who, once elected, organise events and projects, run
campaigns and influence decision makers on the issues which matter
most to young people.
In addition to seven regional meetings all MYPs meet once a year
at the UK Youth Parliament Annual Sitting and all Kent MYP and
DMYPs commit to local meetings where they discuss their campaigns,
future plans and how best to represent the young people of their
county. More information can be found on their webpages
at: http://www.ukyouthparliament.co.uk/
In 2010, Kent Youth County Council elected 10 members to represent
them in the UK Youth Parliament.

Every year, the newly elected MYPs are invited to attend a South
East Regional Residential for two nights to meet all the other MYPs
across the region. Whilst there is time to have fun and make new
friends the residential is also the time to look forward to the
year ahead. This year, the residential was held at the
Kingswood Centre, Isle of Wight.
Future meetings will be held on:

Saturday 24 April - SE Regional Meeting
