KYCC Community Seats

KYCC Community seats

KYCC Community Seats give young people the opportunity to put forward the views and issues from hard to reach communities.

The election process for community seats will take place alongside the area seat elections with members elected from specialist projects.

For example, a young carer will be elected from within the Young Carer’s Network.

This will ensure democracy, sensitivity and confidentiality for the candidates concerned.

Examples of Community Seats are:

  • young travellers
  • young care leavers
  • looked after young people
  • young carers
  • young lesbians, gay bi-sexual, transgender (lgbt)
  • young black and minority ethnic people (bme)
  • young people not in education, training or employment
  • young people in independent schools
  • young parents
  • international students
  • young refugees
  • disabled young people
