Kick Racism Out of Football
Kick
Racism along with other discrimination Out of Football is the
message behind Kent County Council Youth Service’s county wide
football festival for young people in October. It will form
part of a number of initiatives that are being staged to celebrate
Black History Month.
The festivals fall in conjunction with the National
Kick Racism Out of Football
campaign, which works with professional and amateur football
associations, schools and the wider community to challenge racism
and other forms of discrimination within the game. These events are
aimed at 13-19 year olds, but will also endeavour to embrace an
intergenerational community cohesion approach to raising awareness
around culture. Black History Month
is a national event that was launched in 1987 as an annual
celebration of the history and culture of Black and Minority Ethnic
communities across the UK.
Football
is used as the medium to bring young people together to celebrate
Diversity. KROOFF events however, embrace far more than just
football. Providing activities to embrace a wide range of
interests, which could include drama, dance, music, art,
competitions, sampling of multi-cultural food and much more. Young
people receive a certificate of attendance and a t-shirt, and the
winners of any football competitions will receive trophies.
