The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme is a real adventure from beginning to end - it doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from.

You just need to be between 14 and 24 years old and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by!

The three levels

Whether you start on Bronze, Silver or Gold all depends on your age.

Bronze                                                                                                                    You must be 14 to start at your Bronze level. It has four sections: volunteering, physical, skills and expeditions, all of which you can choose and personalise your programs.

Silver                                                                                                                        You must be 15 to start at Silver level, again there are 4 sections: volunteering, physical, skill and expedition.

Gold                                                                                                                             Once you hit 16 you can start your Gold level, the big difference at gold is the residential section, staying away from home for five days and four nights doing a shared activity with new people.

Personalising Your Program

Whatever level you do, you can create your own personal programme with the help of your leader — you must do one activity in each of the following sections:

Volunteering                                                                                                              This is all about having an impact on other peoples lives! Not to mention helping out people who need it.

Physical                                                                                                                      This is a great chance to prove to yourself that you have got body AND mind power.

Skills                                                                                                                     Whatever your good at, this is a chance to hone your skills and show 'em off or try something new.

Expedition                                                                                                             This section can give you some of your most memorable moments.Travelling doesn't always have to be by foot - how about sailing boats, horses or bikes.

Residential                                                                                                               To achieve your gold award you must complete an extra section - Residential.  This Involves you spending 5 days and 4 nights away from home with new people and new places to discover.

...So go on... give it a go!

Leadership And Volunteering

It would mean a lot to us if people out there like you were to give us a hand, we are a charity and thrive through the public's kindness and generosity to give to those who need and seek it.

From DofE Leaders to admin support and mini-bus drivers, there are so many areas and activities we could do with extra pairs of hands in.

The fact is, there are lots of opportunities to get involved in!
