Child Educational Psychology
Who are Kent Educational Psychologists?
Kent Educational Psychologists are applied psychologists,
registered with the Health Professional Council, working both
within the educational system (i.e. schools and settings) and the
community.
Who do we work with?
Kent Educational Psychologists mostly work with children and
young people between 0 -19 years.
Educational Psychologists also work with groups and
organisations to improve the opportunities that children and young
people have to learn and develop. This includes:
- providing consultation and advice to parents, teachers and
other professionals
- applying research and evaluation
- delivering professional development and training.
What do we do?
We work to ensure the emotional well being of children and
young
We carry out psychological assessment, interventions and apply
research, to work effectively with children and young people who
are experiencing difficulties.
In particular we support children and young people:
- who are vulnerable
- who have special educational needs.
We work with parents, carers, teachers and other supporting
professionals (e.g. social workers, speech and language therapists,
doctors) to improve the outcomes for these children, young people
and their families.
We also contribute psychological advice to the Statutory Assessment process as described in the
Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
