Primary schools

Primary schools take children from the age of four (Year R) until the age of 11 (Year 6). Most of the primary education available in Kent is in primary schools.

We also have infant and junior schools.

Infant schools take children from Year R until Year 2, and junior schools take children from Year 3 (roughly seven years old) to Year 6.

Once a child has finished infant school they may then transfer into the junior school. You would need to apply to move your child from an infant to a junior school, as it does not happen automatically.
