Academies
An Academy is a state funded independent school. Academies
are run by an Academy Trust which is established as a charitable
limited company with the purpose of maintaining one or more
academies. There are two levels of governance – company
members that operate at a strategic level and directors that are
also referred to as governors. Academies receive their
funding directly from the Secretary of State for
Education.
