Secondary Transfer 2013
On Friday 1 March 2013, we will send you a letter by first class
post confirming the outcome of your child's secondary school
application.
If you applied online and gave a valid e-mail address you will
also be sent an email after 4pm on Friday 1 March.
For more information about the secondary transfer process,
read our frequently asked
questions.
Secondary school applications from 18 April to 1 July 2013
If you are unhappy with the school your child has been allocated
you can:
- apply for a place at another school by completing an
Extended Preference Form (PDF, 11k). You should send the
form directly to the school you are applying for, who will then let
you know whether they can offer you a place. If you are
unable to print the form and would like us to send you a copy,
please email kent.admissions@kent.gov.uk
or telephone 0300 333 6472. Further information about Kent
Secondary Schools can be found in the
Admission to Secondary School in Kent 2013 (PDF,
3.7Mb) booklet.
- appeal to the Independent Appeal Panel for a place at a school
your child has been turned down for. The Appeals deadline for
secondary school applications made in the normal admissions round
is 16 April. Appeals lodged by the appropriate deadline must
be heard by an independent appeals panel within 40 school days. For
more information about appeals read our leaflet
Secondary School Admission Appeals – A Guide For Parents (PDF,
684k).
If you have not already made an application through Kent’s
Secondary Transfer Process because, for example, you have recently
moved to Kent, you can apply for a school place by completing a
Late Secondary Application form (PDF, 32k). You should
send this form to: The Admissions Team, KCC, Sessions House, County
Hall, Maidstone ME14 1XQ. We will contact schools on
your behalf and let you know the outcome of your application.
If you are unable to print the form and would like us to send you a
copy, please email kent.admissions@kent.gov.uk
or telephone 0300 333 6472.
If you live outside of Kent, you need to contact your local
authority about making a late application or extending your
secondary school preferences.
Transfer to Cranbrook School September 2013 (Year 9)
Kent parents will be sent a letter, posted 1st class on 1 March,
about the outcome of their application.
Applying for an In Year admission
If your child already attends a secondary school and you wish to
apply for a school place outside the year of entry (for example, a
year 8 or 9 place) please refer to our In
Year Admission page for information.
