Vegetarian and special diets
We can provide vegetarian alternatives. Please let us know the
number of vegetarians (and anybody with specific dietary needs,
e.g. halal) at the same time as you choose your menus.
Regional menus
France is very proud of its cooking – and each region of France
has its own specialities. If you wish, as an educational experience
for your group, we can prepare a week of regional menus, rather
than the standard menu above.
This experience is accompanied by posters and information
about the region. For example, we might serve from our own Nord-Pas
de Calais region: potato and herring salad, Maroilles tart, beef in
beer, fish stew and waffles (we can still cater for an dietary
requirement)
There are many possibilities, and this option offers a
great learning experience.
Tasting menu
We can provide, on one evening of your stay, a tasting menu,
either instead of or as well as the standard choice. This can
include snails, frogs legs, mussels, foie gras, local cheese,
tapenade and saucisson.
A supplement may be payable. Please
contact us for an estimate.
Barbecue
If your trip is in the summer months, your group might like to
have a barbecue one evening or lunch-time.
There is a fixed barbecue on the grassy area and picnic benches
for everyone. Our kitchen staff can prepare a variety of salads and
order a selection of sausages, burgers and kebabs, which we
ask you to cook (we provide the charcoal), and there are ice-creams
for everyone.
In this way, you are free to eat at a time that suits you, and
with the opportunity to enjoy the outside space to the full.
Use of the kitchen
The catering kitchen is normally out of bounds, for hygiene
reasons.
However, if you wish to prepare a typical French dish as an
educational experience we can arrange for you to use the kitchen
(lunch-time only).
Please note that this activity will not be supervised by the
centre staff, and the group is responsible for clearing up.
It is also possible to arrange a cooking demonstration (crepes,
simple cakes etc) for your group (in French), by our staff. Please
notify the Manager if you wish to include these activities.
